UPA’s Credentialing team manages and maintains numerous provider applications for Medicare, Medicaid and New Jersey Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield. The Credentialing team is committed to the delivery and finalization of physician application services.


UPA’s Credentialing services include, but are not limited to:


  • Preparation and assembly of enrollment applications for newly-hired faculty - The gathering of documentation needed such as current DEA, notarized NJ medical license, among others and highlighting necessary fields on said applications the physician is required to answer for processing the applications
  • Open communication with department personnel in monitoring time sensitive applications - Credentialing personnel keeps in contact with department contact person of the progress in completing the applications
  • Maintains the credentialing database system, SyMed - Upon application completion, all physician information is entered into the SyMed system for UPA’s records
  • Re-Credentialing of faculty on a timely basis - Physicians must be re-credentialed every 3 years, as required by New Jersey Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare and Medicaid
  • OIG Monitoring - The Office of Inspector General’s exclusion database is queried to determine if the newly hired practitioner is/was involved in any violation (i.e., healthcare fraud and abuse)
